Huawei Smart Car Solution BU (hereinafter referred to as "Car BU") has made personnel adjustments. Jin Yuzhi, president of Huawei's optical product line, has recently taken over as CEO of Automotive BU, while Yu Chengdong has been renamed chairman. On September 21, a reporter from The Paper learned from people familiar with the matter that Huawei has not yet issued a formal document on personnel adjustments. After Yu Chengdong is renamed as chairman, he will still "dedicate a lot of energy" to the automotive business to help the automotive BU achieve profitability.

With this change, part of the management structure of Huawei's car BU includes: Yu Chengdong is the chairman, Jin Yuzhi is the CEO, and Wang Jun is the CSO (chief strategy officer).

Jin Yuzhi's resume shows that he is currently the vice president of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and president of Huawei's optical product line. Huawei Optical Products' newly established smart car optical business products in recent years include ARHUD, smart car lights, etc., which have business overlap with Huawei's car BU.

Huawei Auto BU was established in 2019. Huawei Auto BU is positioned to be the "Bosch in the era of smart electric vehicles" and become an incremental ICT component supplier for automobiles. Huawei later reiterated many times that "Huawei does not build cars, but helps car companies build good cars."

Public information shows that Wang Jun was the president when it was founded, and the highest person in charge was Xu Zhijun, Huawei’s rotating chairman at that time. Wang Jun spent a year expanding the CheBU team to 2,500 people.

In November 2020, the ownership relationship of Huawei Auto BU was adjusted from ICT business to consumer business. In April 2021, Yu Chengdong accepted the appointment as CEO of CheBUCO, while Wang Jun was transferred to CheBUCO and concurrently served as president of the intelligent driving solution product line. At the beginning of this year, there was news that Wang Jun had been suspended and Yu Chengdong would lead Huawei's automotive business. Recently, Wang Jun has returned to Huawei Automotive BU to be responsible for strategic planning.

It is speculated that Yu Chengdong's resignation as CEO of CheBU may be related to the strong return of Huawei's mobile phone business. Next, Yu Chengdong may spend more energy on the mobile phone business. After Huawei solved the problem of mobile phone chips, it launched the Mate60 series and put the mobile phones directly on sale online through the "Pioneer Plan". Currently, mobile phones are still in short supply.

Third-party organizations predict that the total sales of Huawei Mate60 series throughout its life cycle are expected to exceed 20 million units, setting a new record.
