News on September 21, a few days ago,The first intermediate frequency antenna of the world's largest radio astronomy telescope developed by China Electronics Technology Group has been hoisted and has entered the testing and verification stage. It is planned to be sent to South Africa for installation in October this year.According to CCTV News, the antenna that was hoisted this time will be used in the square kilometer array radio telescope project of the International Major Science Project.

It is understood that the Square Kilometer Array radio telescope is the largest comprehensive aperture radio telescope currently under construction. It is jointly funded by multiple countries and has astronomers and engineers from hundreds of universities and scientific research institutions in about 20 countries around the world participating in project research and development.

After completion, it will be dedicated to revealing basic issues such as the origin and evolution of the universe and galaxies.

Its sites are located in eight countries in Australia, South Africa and southern Africa, in a vast wilderness of about 3,000 kilometers.About 3,000 antennas will be built to form a "giant eye of the earth" covering one square kilometer.

As the largest radio telescope built in human history, it will become the largest and most advanced scientific facility on earth after completion. It is 50 times more sensitive than the current largest radio telescope array and 10,000 times faster than the current largest radio telescope array.
