Chinese new energy vehicle giant BYD has recently further expanded its commercial vehicle layout in Europe and officially launched the new pure electric heavy-duty tractor ETT 44. This model is specially designed for European long-distance logistics transportation scenarios. It not only has a total combined mass towing capacity of 44 tons, but also further enhances battery life, charging efficiency and operating economy, hoping to promote the electrification process of the heavy freight industry.

In recent years, the European commercial transportation industry has faced increasingly stringent carbon emission requirements, and traditional diesel heavy trucks are gradually transforming into new energy sources. Faced with this trend, BYD continues to increase its investment in pure electric commercial vehicles, and the ETT 44 is regarded as an important product launched for the heavy-duty trunk logistics market.
The new vehicle is developed based on BYD's latest heavy-duty truck platform, adopts a 6×2 drive layout, and has a maximum total combined mass of 44 tons, which can meet the needs of Europe's mainstream long-distance freight business. In terms of power system, the vehicle is equipped with a high-performance electric drive system, which is optimized for sustained high-speed cruising and heavy-duty transportation conditions.

As the core of the vehicle, BYD equips ETT 44 with self-developed blade battery technology. Compared with traditional power battery solutions, blade batteries have advantages in safety, lifespan and space utilization, and can provide higher energy density to meet the long-range requirements of heavy-duty transport vehicles.
According to official data, this pure electric tractor can achieve long-distance transportation under typical operating environments and supports high-power fast charging. By shortening the energy replenishment time, vehicles can reduce parking and waiting during logistics operations and improve transportation efficiency.

In order to meet the needs of European transportation companies, ETT 44 has also specially enhanced cab comfort and digital management capabilities. The vehicles are equipped with a modern driving environment and fleet management system, which can help operators monitor vehicle status, battery condition and energy consumption data in real time to optimize overall operating costs.
BYD said that as battery technology continues to advance and charging infrastructure continues to improve, the applicable scenarios for pure electric heavy trucks are rapidly expanding. From urban delivery to regional logistics to some long-distance transport tasks, electrification is becoming a realistic and viable option.

Although the number of heavy-duty trucks is far less than that of passenger cars, their single-vehicle carbon emission levels are high, so they are regarded as an important breakthrough in carbon reduction in the transportation field. Many European countries have introduced timetables and hope to gradually reduce the proportion of diesel heavy trucks in the future, and companies including BYD are trying to seize this transformation window.
In addition to the continued growth in the passenger car sector, BYD has also continued to expand its commercial vehicle footprint in recent years. At present, its electric buses, electric trucks and special transportation vehicles have entered multiple international markets.
