Abstract:
Travel during the National Day holiday hit the peak of centralized recharging of new energy vehicles, and the self-operated overcharging services of many leading tram brands have been on the list of complaints. Many car owners have shared their holiday charging experiences. The actual experience of the flash charging mode promoted by the brand cannot reach the nominal level at all. Whether full-speed flash charging can be achieved depends entirely on the remaining power state of the energy storage cabinet at the site.
In response to the problem reported by car owners that the flash charging speed is not as fast as expected,
the customer service of relevant car companies gave an explanation. The core reason for the slow charging speed and failure to meet the flash charging standards is that the power in the energy storage cabinets at the site is rapidly consumed during the holiday peak period, making it impossible to complete the energy replenishment on the grid side in time to support multiple vehicles to charge at ultra-high power at the same time.
To achieve the advertised full-speed flash charging state, the instantaneous output power of a single charging gun needs to reach 1,500 kilowatts. The energy replenishment schedule of the energy storage cabinet is automatically run by the system. Currently, there is no way for manual intervention in the background to assign power priority.
Ideal customer service staff also explained the controversy over the difference in charging limit. After all power batteries are charged more than 80%, they will naturally enter the trickle slow charging stage, and the charging speed will drop significantly.
If the charging cap of all vehicles is lifted during the long holiday peak, car owners will have to charge it fully before leaving, and the large number of vehicles queuing behind will not be able to wait for the vacant charging slots. In order to serve as much energy replenishment demand as possible, during long holidays such as National Day and Spring Festival, different ideal supercharging stations across the country will dynamically adjust the charging cap of a single vehicle based on the real-time queuing saturation of the site. Currently, the commonly used gears are 80%, 90%, and 95%.
Many charging industry practitioners have pointed out that the differentiated operating strategies launched during such holidays are essentially a choice for brands to prioritize the rights and interests of their own car owners. However, in the long run, if all brands set restrictions on foreign brand vehicles at their own supercharging stations, it will make the distribution of public charging resources more chaotic. Only in the future can relevant managers introduce unified holiday supercharging operation specifications so that all new energy car owners of different brands can obtain a relatively fair recharging experience.
