Local tycoon's 12 million customized 24K pure gold mini host dissipates heat 50% faster than aluminum alloy

Abstract:

French hardware manufacturer Kubb recently completed an inhumane private customization task, creating a pure 24K gold version of the Kubb Fanless mini console for a gold enthusiast. This extremely luxurious device sells for up to US$1.7 million (approximately 11.95 million yuan), and its chassis is entirely made of pure gold.

It is understood that the original intention of this customized host is to use the excellent physical properties of gold to improve heat dissipation performance. The manufacturer claims that due to the use of pure gold passive cooling chassis, its thermal conductivity is about 30% to 50% faster than standard aluminum alloy materials.

However, from a physical perspective, gold is far from the optimal solution for heat dissipation. Public data shows that the thermal conductivity of gold is about 314 W/mK, which is significantly higher than aluminum's 205 W/mK. However, the thermal conductivities of silver and copper are as high as 406 W/mK and 385 W/mK respectively, both of which are better than gold.

And the price of copper is much lower than gold. In other words, if you are purely pursuing heat dissipation efficiency, copper chassis is a better choice with high quality and low price.

In terms of hardware configuration, the standard version of Kubb Fanless can be equipped with Intel Core Ultra 5 225H, Core Ultra X7 358H or AMD Ryzen AI 5 340 processor, equipped with 16GB DDR5 memory (optional up to 128GB), 1TB M.2 NVMe solid-state drive, and supports the installation of a second M.2 hard drive.

In terms of interfaces, the Intel version provides 1 USB 3.2 Type-A, 1 USB 3.2 Type-C (DP 1.4a), 1 USB4/Thunderbolt 4 (DP 2.1), and supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

The AMD version is equipped with 1 USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A and 2 USB4 (DP 1.4a), supporting Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.

Both models provide 2 RJ45 network ports, 2 HDMI 2.1 interfaces and 2 USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A interfaces on the side. They use a 19V/6.32A, 120W power adapter, are pre-installed with Windows 11 Pro system, and provide a 3-year warranty.
