Abstract:
In the context of continued tight memory supply, rising prices, and artificial intelligence applications driving up memory demand, Chinese chip manufacturer Montage Technology announced that its new generation DDR5 clock driver chip has entered the mass production stage. Products for consumer-level platforms support up to 9200 MT/s, and products for enterprise-level servers support up to 8000 MT/s.

The CK01P chip for mainstream platforms has been fully mass-produced and complies with the JEDEC DDR5CKD01 specification. It can be used in DDR5 CUDIMM, CSODIMM, CQDIMM, CAMM and subsequent mainstream memory module standards, with a maximum transmission rate of 9200 MT/s. The chip supports three clock drive modes: single PLL, dual PLL and PLL bypass, and adopts a zero-phase delay architecture. The delay can be adjusted by channel programming, and the output characteristics can also be adjusted according to the host memory settings and DIMM network topology; unused clock outputs can also be turned off to improve energy efficiency.
Stephen Tai, President of Montage Technology, said that as artificial intelligence applications enter client devices, the client platform's requirements for memory bandwidth, signal integrity and energy efficiency continue to increase, driving the development of DDR5 modules towards higher data rates and lower power consumption. The mass production of CK01P will provide high-speed and stable clock support for the next generation of client DDR5 memory modules, helping the new generation platform to unleash higher performance.

The RCD05 chip for the server market has also begun mass production. It complies with the JEDEC DDR5RCD05 specification and will be used in DDR5 RDIMM. It supports up to 8000 MT/s, which is about 11% higher than the existing RCD04 product. Montage Technology said that the chip uses a high-performance, low-jitter PLL clock drive circuit and supports CTLE, ZQ calibration and other functions to improve signal integrity. Stephen Tai said that the mass production of RCD05 reflects the company's continued investment in the field of DDR5 memory interface chips. It will continue to cooperate with industry chain partners to provide high-performance and high-reliability memory interface solutions for next-generation server platforms.
Chinese storage manufacturers are accelerating the development of DDR5 and DRAM. Changxin Memory has launched DDR5 modules that support up to 8000 MT/s; as Montage Technology provides clock driver chips up to 9200 MT/s for the domestic market, client and server platforms are expected to further verify higher-speed memory kits. At the same time, Changxin Storage focuses more on the consumer market, while overseas manufacturers focus more on the large-scale artificial intelligence market. The mass production of a new generation of clock driver chips is expected to promote the development of China's local memory industry and provide higher-speed memory solutions for personal computers and servers.
