Musk plans to rename SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI to endorse the concept of "super intelligence"

📅 2026-10-05

Abstract:

U.S. President Trump’s push to replace “artificial intelligence” (AI) with “super intelligence” (SI) is rapidly affecting the technology industry. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, recently stated that his artificial intelligence business brand SpaceXAI intends to change its name to SpaceXSI, and publicly declared that "SpaceX is a super-intelligent company."

This stance stems from a new policy recently promoted by the Trump administration. On September 22, Trump announced that he would replace the term “artificial intelligence” with “superintelligence” and called on the U.S. federal government to adopt new expressions in relevant documents and agencies. Since then, the U.S. government has begun to establish a new policy framework and industrial communication mechanism around "superintelligence."

In response to a question from a social platform user about whether SpaceXAI will be renamed SpaceXSI, Musk made it clear that "yes, we will make changes." Later, he further posted that SpaceX is essentially a "super-intelligent company."

If this name change is finally implemented, it will be another adjustment to the brand identity of this business segment in a short period of time. Previously, xAI, founded by Musk, was acquired by SpaceX in February this year. In July, it officially completed its brand reorganization and changed its name to SpaceXAI, integrating Grok and other artificial intelligence products into the SpaceX system. Now, as the concept of "super intelligence" is brought to the forefront, the brand may once again undergo a name adjustment.

At the same time, the Trump administration is also promoting the construction of relevant systems. Trump recently announced the launch of a new plan called "Super Intelligence Force" (SIF). According to the information disclosed so far, this mechanism will assume the responsibility of coordination and communication between the federal government and the technology industry, and become an important implementation platform for the future US "super intelligence" policy.

In addition to brand adjustments, Musk also recently revealed another development that has attracted much attention. He said SpaceX and Tesla are discussing the possibility of cooperation with TSMC around the Terafab project.

Terafab is a very large semiconductor manufacturing plan promoted by SpaceX and Tesla. Its goal is to provide at least 1 terawatt of artificial intelligence computing power every year for application scenarios such as Optimus humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles, and space data centers. According to the plan, the first phase of the project is being constructed in Grimes County, Texas, USA, with an initial investment of approximately US$16.8 billion, and the final investment scale of the entire project may exceed US$100 billion.

In April this year, Intel has officially joined the Terafab project and plans to provide 14A advanced process and advanced packaging technology to support domestic advanced semiconductor production in the United States. Now that TSMC has entered the discussion stage, Terafab may receive support from the world's two largest advanced chip manufacturing companies in the future.

As for whether TSMC will participate in the project, Musk said that the two parties are currently only in the discussion stage, but "there may be some results" in the future.

Analysts believe that the change in wording from "artificial intelligence" to "super intelligence" is no longer just a conceptual adjustment, but is affecting the brand strategy, policy structure and direction of industrial cooperation in the U.S. technology industry. As the Trump administration continues to promote the implementation of relevant plans, and technology leaders such as Musk publicly respond, "superintelligence" is expected to become one of the core keywords for the future development of the US AI industry.
