Abstract:

The experimental PS5 emulator SharpEmu has updated its game compatibility list: 17 games are currently available for play, 8 of which are listed as "playable". This list is expanded from the test results previously announced by the developer. The list is dominated by indie games and retro-style works.

Developer Scarecrow previously stated that of the 55 games that have been tested, 12 can enter the play stage, and 6 of them can reach 60 frames. This data was announced with the v0.0.4-release.2 version launched on September 25; since then, the compatibility page has updated the number of games that can be played to 17.

The eight games listed as "playable" are:

"Thor's Hammer"

"Doom 1 + Doom 2"

"Castlevania Dominus Collection"

"Dead Cells"

"Sarah's Dream Adventure"

"Vacuum Breeding Box"

《New Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja》

"Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered Edition"

The developers also stated that these games have not been tested from beginning to end, and minor picture or audio problems may still occur when running. Therefore, "playable" in the compatibility list does not yet mean that the complete process has been verified.

Another PS5 emulator, KytyPS5, once allowed the PS5 version of "Give Him Love 5" to reach a maximum of 60 frames on Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Radeon RX 7900 XT configurations, but it crashed after a few minutes of running. It also successfully ran Astro's Playroom and showed good progress in the "Demon's Souls: Remastered" test, successfully reaching 50 frames.

SharpEmu says it prioritizes accuracy and infrastructure over compatibility with specific games, while KytyPS5 says it's targeting broader compatibility and launch stability. This may partly explain the gap in progress, but things could change at any time. Still, it's great to see so much progress in the emulator world in such a short period of time.
