Abstract:
On October 27, Samsung released a commercial for the Galaxy Z Fold8, which directly targeted Apple’s iPhone Duo and was full of gunpowder. The ad reminds Apple that Samsung has continued to make folding screen phones since 2019 and has perfected the technology from generation to generation. Samsung gives specific comparisons in the film: Galaxy Z Fold8 has a folded thickness of 9.7mm, which is 1.6mm thinner than iPhone Duo; it weighs 201g, which is 53g lighter than iPhone Duo.

In response to the recent hinge problem of iPhone Duo, the video also gave a very provocative visual hint. According to reports, iPhone Duo was reported to have a screen failure problem in the first week of sale. The problem may lie in the hinge of iPhone Duo. The iPhone Duo hinge is composed of precision components such as gears, springs, and connecting metal joints. In a previous iPhone Duo disassembly report released by iFixit, it was speculated that the reason may be that the central support bar failed to retract correctly when the phone was closed, thus exerting excessive pressure on the screen.

At the end of the film, Samsung also emphasized that its foldable phone is "several years ahead", further strengthening its first-mover advantage.
Samsung Electronics co-CEO Lu Taiwen previously said that Samsung has been deeply involved in the field of folding screens for seven years and has accumulated technical strength and user understanding. "It will not be able to surpass its opponents overnight." In the future, it will expand its lead by establishing new standards.
Currently, Samsung is the only brand in the Android camp that has a full range of foldable screens. Its products include the three-fold Galaxy Z TriFold, the large-fold Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the wide-fold Galaxy Z Fold8 and the small-fold Galaxy Z Flip8.
