Nobara39 was released today, a modified Fedora Linux downlink focused on adding user-friendly fixes and desktop optimizations for various gamer/enthusiast types. The Nobara project continues to be led by Glorious Eggroll from Proton-GE, working on this modified version of Fedora.

Nobara39 is based on Fedora Workstation39, the upstream version of Fedora Workstation released last month. However, users who like GNOME can also use the GNOME version of Nobara.

In addition to being based on Fedora39, the Nobara39 version also includes Gamescope compositor session updates, Steam packaging improvements, OBS Studio updates, and NVIDIA proprietary graphics driver updates. Nobara39's version of GNOME continues to use some patches around Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), enhancements to the Nautilus file manager, and more.

Nobara39 also added some patches regarding SteamDeckOLED support, setting amdgpu.ppfeaturemask=0xffffffff by default to allow use with applications like CoreCtrl, adding patches for native Wayland support for GLFW, updating to the DNF5 package manager, and other changes to the Fedora39 base.
