Abstract:
AOC recently officially released its first native 1000Hz gaming monitor AGON PRO AGP257FT. This monitor uses a 24.5-inch Fast IPS panel with a resolution of 1920×1080, a native refresh rate of 1000Hz, and supports overclocking to 1050Hz. It is mainly aimed at professional e-sports players and competitive gamers who pursue the ultimate picture response speed.

The biggest selling point of AGP257FT is the 1000Hz native refresh rate. Unlike some previous products that can only achieve 1000Hz at lower resolutions, or achieve ultra-high refresh rates in specific modes through dual modes, the AGP257FT can directly run 1000Hz at the full 1920×1080 resolution. According to this refresh rate calculation, the display can update the picture every 1 millisecond.
Such a high refresh rate is mainly aimed at "Counter-Strike 2", "Fearless Contract" and other e-sports games that require extremely high operational response and motion picture clarity. In theory, the higher the refresh rate, the shorter the time interval between two frames, and the more continuous changes of fast-moving targets on the screen. However, in order to truly take advantage of a 1000Hz display, the game itself must be able to continuously output extremely high frame rates.
AOC equips this product with a Fast IPS panel based on oxide technology. Compared with traditional LCD panels, oxide semiconductor technology can improve pixel drive and response capabilities to better cope with high-speed picture changes at extremely high refresh rates. AOC said that this kind of panel can reduce response limitations that may occur during high-speed refresh and provide clearer images in scenarios such as rapid turns, gun throwing, and lateral movement of targets.
Response time is also a key parameter of AGP257FT. AOC claims that its grayscale response time can reach as low as 0.3ms GtG, and through MPRT technology, it can achieve a motion response performance of 0.1ms. At the same time, the monitor is also equipped with Motion Blur Reduction Plus, which is MBR+ dynamic blur suppression function, which further improves the clarity in high-speed scenes by reducing the afterimage of motion pictures.

In terms of connectivity, AGP257FT is equipped with two HDMI 2.1 interfaces and a DisplayPort 2.1 interface, which can achieve a 1000Hz refresh rate and overclocking operation of up to 1050Hz through these interfaces. The monitor also provides headphone output and USB expansion functions, including three USB-A 5Gbps interfaces and a USB interface that supports BC1.2 fast charging.
Although this is an e-sports monitor that places an extreme emphasis on refresh rate, AOC does not completely ignore ergonomic design. The stand supports height adjustment up to 150 mm and can be tilted, rotated left and right, and rotated vertically. The stand also adds scale marks to facilitate players to record their accustomed monitor position and quickly restore the same settings when participating in LAN events or moving to other venues.
The monitor is also equipped with a QuickSwitch controller, allowing players to quickly switch e-sports modes and other display settings through the independent controller. In addition, the fuselage is equipped with a Light FX lighting system, provides a headphone hanger, and supports PiP and PbP screen display functions.
AOC has also added a series of visual comfort features for long-term e-sports use. In addition to traditional low blue light and anti-flicker technology, AGP257FT also uses hardware-level circular polarization related technology to try to improve the polarization characteristics of screen light, thereby reducing visual stimulation when watching high-speed refresh screens for a long time.
In terms of HDR, this product has obtained VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. However, compared with high-end OLED or Mini LED displays, HDR is not the core selling point of this product. What AGP257FT really pursues is refresh rate, response speed and motion clarity, and the 1920×1080 resolution also clearly reflects its positioning for e-sports competitions rather than high-definition stand-alone games.
24.5-inch and 1080p resolution are also a common combination among professional e-sports monitors. The smaller screen size allows players to view the entire screen at a closer distance. At the same time, compared to 1440p and 4K, 1080p resolution makes it easier for high-end graphics cards to output extremely high frame rates in e-sports games. This is also an important condition for 1000Hz monitors to truly play their role.

AOC expects AGON PRO AGP257FT to be available in the first quarter of 2027, and the recommended retail price for the European market will be announced closer to launch. The manufacturer has not yet announced the final selling price in all regions.
With LG taking the lead in launching native 1000Hz Full HD e-sports monitors, AOC has now joined this market, which means that 1000Hz has begun to gradually enter the actual product stage from experimental technology. Previously, the refresh rate of e-sports monitors has been increased from 144Hz to 240Hz, 360Hz, 500Hz and even higher, and 1000Hz further compresses the display interval of each frame to 1 millisecond.
However, for the vast majority of players, 1000Hz does not mean that the gaming experience will definitely be improved in numerical proportion. Only when the computer can stably output close to 1,000 frames per second, and the entire system links such as game engines, input devices, graphics cards, and CPUs have low enough latency, can the ultra-high refresh rate really come into play. Therefore, the main target of AGP257FT is still professional e-sports and players who extremely pursue low latency, rather than ordinary game users.
The significance of AOC’s launch of AGP257FT is more to prove that native 1000Hz, 1080p gaming monitors have begun to enter the mass production stage. With the further development of panel technology, graphics card performance and e-sports game engines, 1000Hz or higher refresh rates may gradually become the direction for high-end competitive monitors to continue to break through in the future.
