Abstract:
Apple will reportedly launch a new app for Apple Watch tomorrow called Readiness. The app is described as an extension of the existing Vitals app, focusing on providing further insights around health and recovery status.

As the 2026 iPhone launch approaches, rumors about Apple's new products and services continue to increase. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple plans to launch a new app, Readiness, for the Apple Watch at its “Surprise and Shine” event on September 9.
Gurman also pointed out on social platforms that this Readiness application can be regarded as a variant of the Vitals application, and one of its purposes is to better benchmark software solutions from brands such as Whoop and Oura.
The Vitals app, which was first launched with watchOS 11 in 2024, is mainly used to display key sleep-related health indicators, including average heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, wrist temperature, and the length of sleep the previous night.
In contrast, the Readiness Score on the Oura smart ring emphasizes the balance between recovery and activity. It will combine sleep quality, body signals and activity levels to determine the user's readiness for the day.
Gurman further added that Apple may also launch an improved version of the heart rate sensing function simultaneously. It has also been previously reported that Apple is planning a more substantial upgrade for the Apple Watch, including an always-on heart rate sensor that can continuously collect data throughout the day.
Apple Watch has been on the market for nearly ten years, but its core design has not undergone major changes. The report pointed out that Apple is also exploring the possibility of a screenless version, and is also trying different types and sizes of screen solutions, including even circular screens.
