Abstract:
Recently, we have successfully enabled DLSS 5 on older GPUs such as RTX 40 series, 30 series and even 20 series. Although this feature is still limited to the RTX 50 series for now, Nvidia promises to bring NR (Neural Rendering) functionality to the RTX 40 series later. Interestingly, foreign masters have successfully enabled DLSS 5 on AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics cards.
Because DLSS 5 Neural Rendering’s current real-time neural rendering model relies on FP8 floating point operations, it can run entirely on the latest generation of GPUs. This begs the question: is it possible to enable DLSS 5 NR on AMD RDNA 5 GPUs that natively support FP8? The answer seems to be yes.
YouTuber Ancient Gameplays uploaded a video in which he demonstrates how to enable DLSS 5 NR on his Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card in games such as Cyberpunk 2077.
The operation process is very simple:
First, you need to put the "dlssnr_on_amd_setup.exe" file into the binx64 folder, such as in games such as "Cyberpunk 2077".
The next step is to get the "nvngx_dlssnr.dl" file and put it into the same folder.
After running the "dlssnr_on_amd_setup.exe" file, you need to follow some basic instructions. The game can then be run with FSR enabled (FSR 3 or FSR 4).
After pressing the End key to exit the overlay, you will need to run the executable again and select Update (U) or Remove (R) to enable or disable DLSS 5 NR in the game.
Without enabling DLSS 5 NR, "Cyberpunk 2077" can reach more than 80 frames on the RX 9070 XT graphics card, but with NR enabled, the frame rate plummets to 11-12 frames.
It can be seen that due to lack of optimization, DLSS 5 will indeed significantly reduce performance. However, the author of the mod has since released multiple versions, including Alpha v0.2.7, which improved performance by 12%, allowing "Cyberpunk 2077" to reach 30 frames at 1080p resolution.
The author also pointed out that using the same method, DLSS 5 is also suitable for "Give Him Love 5: Enhanced Edition".
