Abstract:
Yesterday, Laohu came across a very interesting comment with more than 30,000 likes. A parent gave 5,000 yuan to a student who had just finished the college entrance examination. The student wanted to use the money to exchange for a new game laptop, but the money was not enough to buy the model he wanted, so he worked hard for 2 months at a summer job and earned more than 4,000 yuan. If nothing unexpected happened, he would be able to buy his favorite computer.

But as we all know, it is impossible without accidents. When he saved enough money, he found that the price had skyrocketed. The original price of a game laptop cost more than 5,000 yuan, which increased to 9,000 yuan. In the end, not only did he have to buy a computer that he had not liked at a high price, but he also worked for two months in vain.
This wave is really a loss.
If you have been paying attention to laptops recently, you will find that in the past year, the average price of market products has basically increased by two to three thousand yuan. Now you can only buy an RTX 3050 gaming laptop for 5,000 yuan.

The people who originally shouted "The party will never lose money if you wait", not only did not get the wool, but they were disappointed with the soaring price of game books in front of them.
So today Laohu will use this matter to talk to you about why RTX 3050 gaming laptops will come back to the market in 2026, why laptop prices have risen so sharply, and how long this wave of price increases will last~
2026
Why did RTX 3050 come to life again?
Before talking about how the RTX 3050 came to life again, let us first review how old it is now.
In May 2021, Nvidia released the RTX 3050 Laptop, an entry-level independent graphics card. Its mission is to succeed the GTX 1650 as the mainstream graphics card in the entry-level gaming laptop market.

Five years have passed, and now even the RTX 40 series is approaching the end of its life cycle, and the RTX 50 series has been fully launched. It stands to reason that the RTX 3050 should have been eliminated long ago, but it has still been stuffed into 2026 computers by a series of mainstream first- and second-tier gaming notebook brands.
This kind of scene, Lao Hu felt, was no longer abstract, but rather magical.
In the past, a consumer who had more than 5,000 yuan and wanted to buy a gaming laptop might consider whether to spend more money on 4090. But now when I open the comment areas of Tieba and public accounts, I see people discussing "Is it enough to buy an RTX 3050 in 2026?"

So why are major brands joining forces to reverse course and still be able to buy gaming laptops with RTX 3050 graphics cards in 2026? Could it be that they are collectively nostalgic?
Of course not, the reason is not complicated. The price of the originally planned replacement graphics card has risen to the point where the manufacturer's product line is directly cut off.
When we searched for RTX 4050 gaming notebooks on the e-commerce platform, even if we only looked at second-tier notebook brands such as Colorful and Jiaolong, their prices reached at least around 6,500.

If we search for the RTX5050 gaming laptop again, we can see that the price has gone up to another level. Even the public model Shenzhou, also known as Shenzhou, costs at least 7,188 yuan after national subsidies.

The sweet spot price of RTX 50 series graphics cards, which is RTX 5000 to 6000, which is the mainstream price in the gaming notebook market, has been directly cut off by the price increase of replacement graphics cards.
Therefore, manufacturers are faced with a very serious problem: if they give up the mainstream price range of 5,000 to 6,000 yuan, in addition to losing immediate revenue, it will also lead to a decline in overall shipments, which will affect their voice in the supply chain.

This series of chain reactions is unacceptable to manufacturers, and no one dares to make this decision: we give up the game notebook market priced between 5,000 and 6,000 yuan.
So now that the prices of RTX4050 and RTX5050 have skyrocketed, after other peripheral configurations have been castrated to the point where they can no longer be castrated, game notebook manufacturers can only choose to focus on the core component of the game notebook - the graphics card. The RTX3050 is the most suitable choice at this time.
On the other hand, NVIDIA is also cooperating with gaming notebook manufacturers. Earlier this year, it reactivated Samsung's 8nm production line specifically for the production of RTX 30 series graphics cards.

Because the RTX 30 series graphics cards use a mature 8nm process, with high yield and large production capacity, and use much cheaper GDRR6 memory, which will not crowd out the demand for AI computing clusters, this also allows NVIDIA to provide a large supply of RTX 3050 to game notebook manufacturers.
Because of this, we will see the 5,000 yuan RTX 3050 gaming laptop standing in front of us again in 2026 like a sit-up.
Why are laptop prices soaring?
However, if you think that only graphics cards are increasing in price, then you are underestimating this round of hardware price increases. In addition to graphics cards, the price increases of memory and solid-state drives over the past year can be described as out of control.
According to statistics from Tom’s Hardware, from August 2025 to August 2026, the price of DDR5 memory has increased by up to 500%. The price of a 2×16GB DDR5 set originally priced at about US$100 has increased from about US$100 to about US$480 to US$572.

Even if it is a non-original memory stick, the current price of a 2×16GB DDR5 set is as low as about 3,600 yuan.

What’s even more frightening is that according to forecast data just released by TrendForce at the end of September, in the fourth quarter of this year, the contract price of traditional DRAM memory is expected to increase by about 10% to 15% month-on-month, and NAND Flash flash memory will also increase by about 15% to 20%.

CPU, memory and SSD, which originally accounted for 45% of the cost of a laptop, have also increased to 68% after this wave of price increases.
When the pressure is passed from the supply chain to manufacturers, in order to maintain profit margins and market share, they are left with only three options: increase prices, reduce configurations, and replace outdated hardware.
As a result, we saw the memory of laptops dropped from 32GB to 16GB, the hard drive dropped from 1TB to 512GB, the switch from TLC to the previously unpopular QLC, and the graphics card rolled back from the RTX 5050 all the way to the 2021 RTX 3050.
So, why have the prices of computer hardware risen so sharply?
The answer lies in the news that hits the screen every day - AI.
In order to meet the needs of AI computing clusters with strong demand and huge profits, DRAM memory and NAND flash memory manufacturers have shifted most of their production capacity to the production of server memory, HBM high-bandwidth memory and enterprise-class SSD. There are even established manufacturers directly announcing their withdrawal from the consumer-grade memory and solid-state drive market.

Even the production capacity of the graphics cards most needed by gamers has been diverted to make AI computing cards. After all, the profit of a GB200 computing card is enough to equal the profit of N RTX 4050 graphics cards.
Therefore, even though the AGI era has not yet arrived, the rising hardware prices have already made us feel the immersive chill that AI brings to us.
What is the heavier fact?
Although the price of computer hardware has increased significantly compared to last year, Laohu research found that today’s price is still not the peak of hardware price increase.
According to analysis by Morgan Stanley's U.S. team, the shortage in the memory market will continue until 2027 or even 2028, which means that in the next one or two years, if you want to buy a computer, perhaps the best time is now.
