Mercedes-Benz recalls 180,300 vehicles in China: involving two types of safety hazards

📅 2026-11-06

Abstract:

On November 6, the State Administration for Market Regulation issued an announcement that Beijing Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. and Mercedes-Benz (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd. have registered three recall plans, involving a total of 180,279 domestic and imported cars. The safety risks involve the vehicle's high-voltage system and the driver's side door lock respectively.

Among them, Beijing Benz will recall some domestically produced CLA pure electric vehicles produced between November 25 and December 3, 2025, from now on, a total of 2 vehicles. Due to manufacturing problems, the electrical components on the circuit board of the power electronic device of the rear electric drive module of the vehicle may be damaged, resulting in a short circuit in the high-voltage system, which may interrupt power transmission and increase the risk of vehicle collision. Beijing Benz will replace the rear electric drive module for relevant vehicles free of charge.

Another large-scale recall will be launched on February 19, 2027, involving 129,819 domestic A-class, GLA and GLB vehicles, and 50,458 imported A-class, B-class, C-class, CLA, CLE, GLA, GLB and GLC vehicles, totaling 180,277 vehicles.

The announcement shows that the potting material of the driver's side door lock microswitch of the above-mentioned vehicle has insufficient moisture-proof performance and may malfunction due to moisture corrosion after long-term use. This problem will not affect the normal locking of the car doors, but it may cause the system to be unable to recognize that the driver's side door has been opened, so that the parking brake or automatic parking function cannot be automatically activated as expected, and there is a risk of unexpected movement of the vehicle.

Beijing Benz and Mercedes-Benz (China) will replace the driver's door lock for vehicles within the recall scope for free through authorized dealers, and notify relevant car owners by registered mail or other means.
