Abstract:
On November 2, many users posted on X that OpenAI seems to have begun testing the GPT-6.2 Astra model. Currently, the latest model publicly released by OpenAI is GPT-6.1 Terra, and GPT-6.1 Astra has not yet been launched. X user Token Gremlin, who tracks the latest developments in AI models, posted that OpenAI is quietly A/B testing a new version called GPT-6.2 Astra, and this model has appeared in Codex usage statistics.

GPT-6.2 Astra exposure
Currently, the model selector still displays GPT-6 Astra, but "gpt-6.2-astra" has appeared separately in the usage details of some user accounts, and about 19.8% of requests are allocated to this model. Multiple users have observed the same thing, so this isn't a simple display glitch. This could be a grayscale test, meaning a new generation of Astra is coming.

GPT-6.2 Astra
Token Gremlin stated that GPT-6 Compared with Astra, the performance of GPT-6.2 Astra may be significantly improved, and its performance even exceeds Opus 5.5 in many aspects.
Token Gremlin later posted that GPT-6.2 Astra may be released soon. He has verified it with several Chinese friends, and this model is also displayed on their interfaces.
