The touch version of MacBook Pro is expected to lose weight and be upgraded, but the thickness of the body may change less than expected

Abstract:

Rumors surrounding Apple’s next-generation MacBook Pro have been adjusted again recently. The latest news shows that although the long-awaited OLED touch MacBook Pro is still expected to be released later this year, the previously widely circulated "lighter and thinner" design may only realize part of it. The weight of the body is expected to decrease, but there will be no significant change in thickness.

According to the latest revelations, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who has long tracked Apple product trends, has revised his previous predictions about the new MacBook Pro’s substantial slimming down. He said the upcoming product may not end up being significantly thinner than the current version.

This statement contrasts with market expectations over the past few months. There have been many rumors before that Apple will adopt a redesigned body structure on the new generation of MacBook Pro, which together with the first introduction of the OLED touch screen has become an important selling point of this round of updates. As a result, many consumers had expected Apple to launch a significantly slimmer professional-grade notebook.

However, while the thickness change may not be significant, the weight loss plan appears to be still in place. According to sources, Apple has redesigned some internal components, reduced the size of some parts, and adjusted the internal structural layout to reduce the weight of the entire machine and improve portability.

It's unclear exactly how much weight the new MacBook Pro will lose. For reference, the current 16-inch MacBook Pro weighs about 4.7 pounds (about 2.13 kilograms), while the 15-inch MacBook Air weighs about 3.3 pounds (about 1.5 kilograms). Although the MacBook Pro itself is not particularly bulky, compared with the MacBook Air, the gap between the two in daily carrying experience is still very obvious.

In addition to the weight adjustment, multiple sources believe that the biggest change in the new MacBook Pro will still come from the upgrade of display technology. The product is expected to use an OLED screen for the first time and become the first MacBook in Apple’s history to support touch operations. The industry believes that this will be one of the most important hardware changes in the Mac product line in recent years.

At the same time, the market is gradually converging on the release date of new phones. It is currently widely expected that Apple will officially launch a new version of MacBook Pro between the end of October and November to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the MacBook Pro series.

Although Apple has not yet confirmed the existence of the touch MacBook Pro, the constant emergence of touch-related patents in recent years, rumors of display technology upgrades, new hinge designs, and the macOS system’s continued preparation for touch interactive functions have led the outside world to believe that this product is getting closer to its official release.

Judging from the information currently exposed, the new generation MacBook Pro may not become the thinnest professional notebook in Apple’s history, but through the OLED touch screen, lighter body design and new internal architecture adjustments, it is still expected to become the generation of MacBook Pro that has undergone the greatest changes in recent years.
