On the afternoon of September 16, 2022, a fire broke out in the China Telecom Building in Changsha, Hunan Province. Thick smoke billowed from the scene and dozens of floors burned violently. Fire rescue personnel quickly brought the fire under control after arriving at the scene, and then the open fire in the building was extinguished. What caused the fire?
Now, the official has finally given an investigation report. The investigation report shows that the fire caused a total fire area of about 3,600 square meters on the exterior wall and about 400 square meters on the indoor wall. There were no casualties, and direct property losses were estimated at 7.9136 million yuan.
After investigation, it was determined that the accident was a general production safety liability accident that had a great impact on society and was caused by poor management of fire sources and combustibles.
The direct cause of the fire accident was that unextinguished cigarette butts ignited corrugated paper, rotten wood, broken wood, bamboo plywood and other combustible materials on the 7th-floor outdoor platform on the north side of the telecommunications hub building, which in turn ignited the decorative aluminum-plastic panels on the building's exterior walls, causing a fire.
